Jaewon Wee (1999) - South Korea

Jaewon Wee is an accomplished violinist who completed her education at Juilliard and the New England Conservatory (NEC). She is currently studying at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University under the tutelage of Cho-Liang Lin. 

In 2023, Jaewon won first prize and three special prizes at the Mirecourt International Violin Competition. She has also claimed first prizes and audience awards at the YSAYE International Violin Competition and the Washington International Competition. 

In 2021, she won the Second Prize and the iPalpiti Special Prize at the George Enescu International Competition in Bucharest, where she performed Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77 at the Athenaeum.

As the winner of the Juilliard Violin Concerto Competition in 2019, Jaewon made her New York debut at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, performing Sergei Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2.

She has performed as a soloist with the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, the Italy Palermo Festival Symphony Orchestra, and the Korean Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, among others. 

Jaewon plays a 1784 Lorenzo Storioni violin on loan from SooYoung Art Trade in South Korea.
