Siqi Yu / China
Siqi Yu began learning the violin at the age of five and made her debut just two years later. In 2012, she was admitted to the high school affiliated with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
She has since participated in prestigious music festivals, including the Matsumoto Festival in Japan and the Keshet Eilon Festival in Israel. Throughout her career, Siqi has attended master classes with renowned violinists such as Midori Goto, Zhou Qian, Vadim Gluzman, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Ilya Kaler, Donald Weilerstein, Lewis Kaplan, and conductor Andrew Manze.
She earned fifth prize at the International Rodolfo Lipizer Competition and received recognition at the Hong Kong International Violin Competition. Since 2020, Siqi has been part of the Musethica programme as a young artist.
As a soloist, she has performed with the Wratislavia Chamber Orchestra and the Lviv Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, she has appeared at the Auditorio de Zaragoza and collaborated with artists such as Avri Levitan and Jonathan Brown.
Siqi has been studying at the University of Music, Drama, and Media in Hanover since 2016 under the tutelage of Professor Adam Kostecki. In 2021, she began studying with Professor Erik Schumann at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt. Currently, she is also honing her skills under the guidance of Professor Liza Ferschtman in Hanover as she prepares for her diploma exam.
